Qatar National Library Uses White Aluminum Ceiling

The Cartel National Library contains the Doha National Library, the Public Library and the University Library, and contains valuable documents and manuscripts related to Arab-Islamic culture. The public library will house more than 100,000 books and provide more than 42,000 square meters of reading space for thousands of readers.

The library is a single volume that accommodates books and people. The edges of the building rise from the ground floor and form three passages—the three channels accommodate the bookshelf and also enclose a triangular center space. This structure allows visitors to enter the center of the building directly without having to enter from the edge of the building. The entrance to the building is designed as an undulating bookcase, with reading, social and browsing areas in the space. The pillars, bookshelves, and aluminum ceilings of the building use white color schemes, which together with the artificial lighting, ventilation and returning system make the interior and exterior of the building a whole.
